OOTD: Brunch & Lent Talk

Hi world! Wore this look for my friend's bday brunch. The weather - as you can tell - was gawwwgeous! These pointy pumps are super comfy and currently my favorite. Moreover, I decided that this year I wanted to give up something for lent. I've never done it and felt the need to do so for all the blessings God has awarded me with. If you're not Christian Catholic and don't know what lent is I suggest you google it if interested. But, basically lent begins on Ash Wednesday and covers a period of approximately six weeks before Easter Day (forty days to be exact). "The traditional purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer through prayer, penance, repentance of sins, almsgiving, atonement and self-denial." "Its institutional purpose is heightened in the annual commemoration of Holy Week, marking the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, which recalls the tradition and events of the New Testament beginning on Friday of Sorrows, further climaxing on Jesus' crucifixion on Good Friday, which ultimately culminates in the joyful celebration on Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. During Lent, many of the faithful commit to fasting or giving up certain types of luxuries as a form of penitence." We're so used to certain things in our daily lives we tend to think that if we don't have it we wouldn't be able to live without it. And, guess what? We're wrong. Besides oxygen and water, there's nothing you can't live without. Believe it or not, I learned that these past forty days. I gave up coffee. Coffee is huge for me! To the point where I once thought I had an addiction. There's not a day that goes by without me drinking coffee. The first few days were extremely hard, I was undergoing withdrawals as if I was a drug addict in rehab. I'm serious. After the first week, I started to not only feel good about myself (because I knew I was doing the right thing for God) but also started seeing a change in my sleep, weight, and energy. This experience taught me that some things in life are not as important as we aught it to be. If you're too attached to something, try not having it or not doing it for forty days. You'll most likely see a change and realize you'll be just fine without it.

God Bless & Happy Easter

Double Denim aka Denim on Denim

Question: Do you dare to wear double denim aka denim on denim? This trend has a bad reputation. Back in the day, it was the most uncool thing ever. But today, brands are changing our minds. New technology in lighter and softer denim fabrics have allowed for this trend to be one of the hottest for Spring 2014.  Personally, I think you can pull it off easily by pairing light and dark wash like I did. :)

Have a wonderful rest of your day! It's sunny 60 degrees on this side of town! :)

OOTN: Crop Top & Midi Pencil Skirt

Trends come and go - that's a fact. BUT I have a feeling that crop tops and midi skirts are going to reign the world of le moda for a while. How much you wanna bet? :-P I myself am utterly obsessed with crop tops and midi skirts. So much that I've given myself a new nickname - The Queen Of Croptops (hashtag #queenofcroptops) lol. I've seriously lost count of how many I've bought the past couple of months. 1. For the most part, they're affordable (not too much fabric) 2. It's up to you to decide how much skin you want to show and 3. They can go with jeans, skirts, or shorts. Midi skirts on the other hand are classy and edgy. The fact that the hem goes below the knee (and if they're skin tight - they accentuate your curves) allow for what I like to call a "decent seduction" look. Put these two together and BAM!
